Steam Beans is an academic enrichment program in Stoughton, Massachusetts, dedicated to building confidence, curiosity, and leadership in girls through early STEM and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) exposure. By combining academics with cultural relevance and real-world experiences, we equip students to thrive in 21st-century careers.

Executive Director & Founder
Sheila Johnson

Sheila Johnson is an award-winning educator, curriculum designer, and diagnostic specialist with over 20 years of experience empowering young learners—especially those from diverse and underserved backgrounds. As the founder of STEAM BEANS, Inc, Sheila brings her passion for equity in education and her deep expertise in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) to life through creative, hands-on programs that spark curiosity and confidence in every child.
Sheila holds a master’s degree in education and multiple teaching licenses in general and special education, with specialized certifications in ESL/ML (English as Second Language/Multilingual learner).
At the heart of Sheila’s work is a deep belief that all children deserve access to high-quality, engaging learning experiences. Her program at STEAM BEANS reflect her commitment to academic growth, social-emotional development, and the power of discovery. Parents trust Sheila not only for her credentials, but for her warmth, integrity, and unwavering focus on what’s best for kids.
